About the owner

Bonam Home is still  a small company and therefor still just a one woman show. I am the owner, designer, purchaser, marketeer, salesperson, customer service and packager all wrapped into one little person: Surya Bonam.

Ever since finishing college I have fantasized about opening my own company. Many crazy ideas came and went, while I held on to my day job 🙂

A few things have always been very clear to me though:
1. If and when I start a company I would like to use some of my creative energy,
2. It would preferably have something to do with India
3. I want it to make a positive contribution to other peoples lives.

All of these things came together when I was looking for a rug for my home. I wasn’t able to find what I was looking for and thought I could design the perfect rug myself. It was easy to find a company in India where to get my rugs made, but I literally spent hours and hours to find just the right companies for me. Companies who care for their employees and for our environment.

Since starting Bonam Home I have not just designed rugs, but also poufs, kimonos, jewelry and artwork. Next to our traditional cotton and wool rugs, we have also started making rugs made out of recycled plastic bottles which are highly sustainable!

I feel grateful every day to be designing beautiful things while contributing to a better world.
